The age-old expression, “Go the extra mile,” deeply resonates with every leading business that infuses the spirit of innovation into everything it does. The essence of this expression is at the very core of the success of Taylored Services—a fully integrated, third-party logistics provider specializing in wholesale, retail, and direct-to-consumer unit fulfillment. Taylored Services prides itself in thinking outside the box and providing innovative solutions that fit customers' multi-channel distribution and fulfillment needs. Catering to over 100 customers from different verticals, the company walks the extra mile to develop and offer efficient supply chain solutions that go beyond mere warehousing, transportation, and fulfillment. "We are not just an ordinary third-party logistics (3PL) provider that stores, transports, and delivers goods. We go beyond to help retailers and wholesalers work with their vendors on packaging and compliance and also impart our knowledge and best practices to help them optimize their supply chain processes," says Tom McCormack, CIO of Taylored Services.
Value-Added, Innovative Solutions
Due to an acute labor shortage in the post-COVID era, small and mediumsized companies are scrambling to keep up their service standards and compete with retail behemoths like Amazon and Walmart. Backed by an in-house team of IT and engineering professionals with extensive industry experience, Taylored Services provides customers with expert technology integrations while guiding customers on how to maximize the benefits of marketplace e-tailers such as Shopify or SellerCloud. "Further, our technicians on the bench collaborate and work with customers' third-party technology vendors to ensure that the integration improves productivity and delivers the results we sell," informs McCormack. One of the competitive advantages Taylored Services offers is greater than 99.5 percent inventory accuracy. Distributing over 350 million units a year, the company focuses on a suite of technology solutions embedded within its processes to ensure inventory accuracy and quick order turnaround times. Additionally, Taylored Services provides customers with a simple commercial plan to create a predictive budget for fulfillment and distribution, saving them a significant amount of money.
Notably, Taylored Services offers tremendous flexibility for ecommerce companies with its innovative white glove services, including gift wrapping and custom kitting along with expedited shipping. Alongside, Taylored Services streamlines reverse logistics by setting up a self-service appliance for customers to help them process returns faster and in a hassle-free manner. Taylored Services provides the ability to seamlessly link the returns process with the Customers website, providing extended functionality from within the customers portal. "We're agile in our approach; we don't offer a single cookie-cutter solution or force customers to fit into a preconfigured box. Rather, we fit our processes as per their needs while leveraging our best practices. This is what steers us ahead of our competitors," remarks McCormack.
Geared toward Excellence
Through its dedicated project management office (PMO) with dedicated IT and operations experts, Taylored Services onboards clients and works with them on technical integrations.

The company has developed a robust project methodology over the years, drawing on its team’s deep-rooted knowledge of various ERP systems and market-leading ecommerce platforms to deliver solutions on time and within budget. Besides, as most customers are not astute in logistics, the company guides them in working with their factories, manufacturers and agents helps them with compliance, and more—all done upfront right during the integration to ensure smooth operations. Post integration, Taylored Services works side-by-side with the client training them to use Taylored Services’s self-reporting web portal which provide clients with secure real-time access to their fulfillment and distribution processes throughout Taylored Services’s facilities. Beyond the integration Taylored Services provides Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with their customers on KPIs through their Client Services group.
As a testament to the robust capabilities of Taylored Services, McCormack recalls their engagement with one of their clients, a major apparel company in Southern California. While working with a competitor that was managing their ecommerce channel in another geographical location, the client found that the cost of maintaining inventory, which was redundant in two different sites, was prohibitive. Taylored Services stepped in to architect a multi-channel plan for the client so that they could have their entire inventory in one place and pull products from the wholesale and retail channels as needed to fill any gaps in the inventory caused due to overselling on the ecommerce site. The move also enabled the customer to extend its ecommerce offering which now included product in its wholesale channel. With Taylored Services, the client increased flexibility, reduced overhead expenses, and eliminated redundancy.
Steering ahead, Taylored Services aims to expand its existing three million square feet facility footprint to four million in 2022. The additional million square feet consists of a new facility in New Jersey and another state-of-the-art facility in Savannah, Georgia, which will go live next year. Besides, the company is planning to extend its Locus Robotics' autonomous mobile fleet into the new sites. "These bots were of utmost value during the pandemic as they helped us mitigate challenges associated with labor shortage, the world has changed,” comments McCormack. Taylored Services is also expanding its transloading capabilities at the Port of Los Angeles which includes 600,000 square feet of trans-load and cross dock capabilities within 84 acre campus near the Port of Los Angeles with Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) in response to port congestion.
