FREMONT, CA: The retailer is the individual or organization that distributes items to the final customer via the channel of distribution. Retail marketing possesses the following features:
Ultimate Customer Sale: In a retail transaction, goods or services are sold to the final consumer for consumption. The goods or service is not resold. Retail transactions include the sale of goods and services for consumption, which may be for residential or home use, or industrial use.
Even the organization of the selling of replacement parts, equipment, machinery, and other items to industrial houses or businesses is categorized as a retail transaction. Once the goods have been sold, the product or service should not be resold. It is consumed by the customer or the individual for whom the purchase was made.
Convenient Quantity: The term retail refers to a cut size small piece' or a way to break the bulk. Retailers purchase in bulk from middlemen or manufacturers; the middleman or manufacturer then fails the bulk and sells in tiny quantities to meet customer demand. Goods may be repackaged or supplied in tiny compact packs that an individual can carry to his or her home.
Convenient Location: Retailers distribute things from a suitable place for their customers. When it comes to the actual location, it could be a convenience store, a shop, or a multiplex. Additionally, it may be conducted on the internet, via mobile or mail order businesses. The goods/services are supplied for the consumer's convenience and comfort.
With the rise of I-T and courier services, online shopping via the internet and mobile devices is gaining popularity. (For example, a pizza advertisement on television shows the pizza being delivered within a half-hour of the order.)
Final Link in the Distribution Chain: A retailer is a final link in the distribution chain. He sells items to the end-user. He acts as a link between middlemen and consumers. He is referred to as the bottle's merchandising arm or neck. He serves as a liaison between the maker and the consumer. It benefits both parties by exchanging required information that results in profit for the manufacturer through the production of popular things with the public.
